Lost to the family

Just got back from a funeral wake. Someone close to my family pass away. She was the mother of the kid whom my mum babysits. The boy is 20 now, he is like a brother to me and a son to my mum therefore there is a rather close connection between the families.

She was diagnose with breast cancer some 7 or 8 years ago. She fought... She won (almost) then her illness took a sudden turn last year. Seeing her gone sadden me and my family because she was such friendly approachable person.

This was what I heard when she was critically ill. She wanted to recover because she wanted to tender her resignation to the company (she was on medical leave) personally. She don't want to be dismissed by the company. Doctor said, she won't make it to this year's Chinese New Year, she told her sons she want to. Not only did she make it, she stayed till the end of Chinese New Year (all 15 days of Chinese New Year). She instructed her son (the boy whom my mum looked after) to come visit us at Chinese New Year (I was away in Bali) and even gave him 3 ang pows to pass to us and also the zodiac coin that my mum usually requested from her (she works in a bank)

From this, you can see how strong her will to survive. How hard she battled against all odds.

Auntie.... You are a survivor that lives in our hearts forever.
